Calgel back to top back to top

Available in 10ml and 25ml jars.

  • It has a honey like consistency that cures on exposure to Ultra Violet light.
  • Has excellent adhesion to the natural nail plate and is extremely flexible and tough.
  • Can be used over natural nails, artificial nail tips, fibre and acrylic systems and can be used to sculpture an extension onto a natural nail.
Very little filing of the natural nail is required before application of Calgel.
  • There are no primers or primer gels to use.
  • Can be easily removed without damage to the natural nail.
  • Has no offensive odour.
  • Self levelling so no final filing or buffing is required.

Calgel (clear) can be used on natural nails to strengthen and support, weak, brittle or soft flaking nails, helping them to grow naturally into strong, healthy, good looking nails - without the use of tips or extensions.

Calgel does not require excessive buffing of the natural nail before application. It is a Honey-like liquid that is brushed onto a prepared nail, then cured for three minutes under an Ultra Violet curing lamp. Two coats are so thin, that even close inspection will show only well cared for natural nails.

For people not wanting to wait for natural growth, Calgel can be used to form nail extensions onto the natural nail, and unlike some other systems, a Calgel extension is thin, flexible and natural looking.

Artificial tips also are stronger and better looking with Calgel applied over them, without appearing thick and false.

The Calgel system and allied products are non-damaging, fast, clean and the modern way to achieve thin, flexible, natural and natural looking, beautiful nails.

At last! - Nail colours that will not chip, peel, flake or smudge.
Colour Calgel offers a large range of semi-permanent nail colours, and with matching varnishes - a system that will keep your nails looking their best, with the minimum of attention.
Colour Calgel is applied over natural or artificial nails, then placed under an Ultra Violet curing lamp for three minutes. A second coat is then applied and cured - thats it!
As your nails grow, the matching nail varnish is used to colour the new growth until its time to have your Nail Technician give you a fill.

Should an occasion arise when you temporarily need to have another nail colour, simply apply the new colour varnish over your Colour Calgel. Then the next day - or whenever - use a non-Acetone nail varnish remover (Calcleanse), and you return to the original colour of your choice.
Colour Calgel can be removed without any damage whatsoever to your nails, by soaking them for a few minutes in Calaway - a specially formulated solution containing moisturising oils to prevent any drying of the natural cuticle oils.
Colour Calgel is compatible with other types of nail systems and can be used over correctly applied Fibreglass or Acrylic nails.

Technical Information back to top back to top
  • Calgel is unlike the average gel or nail product - it does not seal off and inhibit the natural biological nail system. Being gas permeable,
  • Calgel allows the nail to respire. Although the nail is made up of dead keratin - a non living material - it does however give off moisture and by-product vapours connected with the metabolic activity of the skin under the nail.
  • Calgel's respiratory nature allows the nail and finger beneath to remain far more healthy and natural.
  • There are no acrylic monomers or Methyl acrylic acid in the formulation of Calgel. These harsh chemicals are used with the traditional acrylic nail systems used in salons and have been found to cause allergic reactions in many people.
  • Calgel has been formulated in response to the overwhelming need for an easy to apply and safer system to beautify nails.

Curing Information back to top back to top
  • Calgel and Colour Calgel cures when Ultra Violet light comes into contact with the Photo Initiator in the gel.
  • If the layer of Calgel applied to the nail is too thin, then there will NOT be enough Photo Initiator in the film to complete the curing process.
  • This explains why Calgel (clear and colour) will not cure - no matter how long you leave the nails in the curing lamp - the Calgel application is too thin!
  • The opposite situation only occurs with Colour Calgel. When the film thickness is too thick, the Ultra Violet light can not reach all the way through the Colour Calgel and will only cure the top layer, leaving the gel beneath uncured - no matter how long you leave the nails in the curing lamp - the application is too thick!
  • Under these circumstances the Colour Calgel will form a cured top shell (which may wrinkle) and the underneath layer will remain uncured or partially cured (depending upon the penetration of the U.V. light through the gel layer. This will obviously lead to lack of adhesion and lifting problems.
  • Colour Calgel MUST be translucent to a degree, to allow through penetration of the U.V. light for correct curing of the gel. Therefore when a solid colour is required, two or more applications will be needed to achieve this.

Storage back to top back to top
  • Keep the jars in a cool dark place and do not place a jar in front of the Curing lamp.
  • Even dark amber jars will not block the U.V. from direct or reflected sunlight, and exposure for even a few minutes will begin the curing process.
  • Calgel and Colour Calgel begin curing immidiately they come into contact with UV light, so care must be taken when using these products to avoid unwanted UV light curing the product when the jars are open.
